Sparkly Day 7 - Two ways to win

Welcome to Day 7 of our 10th Anniversary bash! The Technique Junkie Newsletter is giving away something every day. Anyone can win -- to enter, just leave a comment!

Today we are going Sparkly. The card above uses the Abstract Texture Technique (Alluring Impressions Stamps) from CD10 -- the newest TJ Annual CD (released in September).  This was one of the 10 Bonus Techniques on the CD. There are a whopping 100 Tutorials in pdf format on the CD! I had a hard time capturing the sparkle in the picture, so I took another little shot so you might be able to see it better.

Today's giveaway has TWO parts:

First -- everyone wins! If you order anything today and add CD10 to your order, I will take $2.00 off your total! This means you must order TWO things -- a renewal, a subscription, any other CD, etc., AND CD10. If you have been waiting to renew, or to order the Great Gifts CD, now is your chance to save some money! Just place your order like normal and I will refund the $2.00 when I process it. Orders must be placed between 12:01am EST on Sunday, October 7th and 1pm EST  on Monday October 8th to qualify for the discount. Remember, you have to order CD10 AND another item to be eligible for the $2.00 refund. Note that I have included links at the bottom of the post so that you can find the order areas easily.

Second, one lucky winner will not only receive the card and Alluring Impressions stamps used to make it; they will receive a big pile of stamps from Alluring Impressions! I can tell you that the pile has angels, ladies and saying galore -- the winner will NOT be disappointed! Won't it be fun to open each bag and see what is in them? A little like stamper's Christmas!

So there are a lot of things to win today -- and all you have to do to play along is to leave a comment on this blog post. My random number generator will select a winner on Monday October 8 at 1:00pm EST.  Make sure to leave an email address on your comment so I can contact you if you win.

Glassy Embossed Horse

I was in a 1-on1 swap this month and had to make a card representing the letter "H". This card, using a Horse from Alluring Impressions, was my submission. I colored my Horst image using the Sepia Technique (October 2009 Technique Junkie Newsletter) and mounted it on a Torn Frame (December 2008 TJNL). That was placed on a Glassy Embossing Background (February 2010 TJN).

The Glassy Embossing Technique is also on the new Emboss or Die CD. There are 79 step-by-step pictorials on the CD -- including 49 new techniques and 30 from the archives,  It is a library of embossing, die cutting and electronic cutting ideas, complete with the how-to and examples of what the design team has done. You can order it HERE for $17.95.

An Alluring Pirate!

Ahoy, matey! I think I have found the PERFECT card style for swaps. This card -- the Short Graduated Accordion from the Fancy Folds and Motion Paper Crafts CD --is it! These are very easy to make, put together, and they fit into a regular-sized envelope. Plus you get two cards from every piece of paper!

My Short Graduated Accordion Card uses paper from Mark's Finest Papers and features pirate images from Alluring Impressions. A great kids card, to be sure.
If you need to still order the CD, you can order it directly from the link above, or from the Technique Junkie Newsletter home page.

Okay, off to go swap the decks. Have a great day!

Alluring Impressions Giveaway

Call me crazy, but I can't stop adding this webbing to my cards! Today I used the wild webbing technique, one of the Technique Junkie Newsletter  Bonus Techniques from CD8, to accent these stamps from Alluring Impressions, our giveaway sponsor this week.  This week's winner will receive the card above, a sample of Alluring Impressions's Stamp Storage sheet, and the stamps below:
If you haven't been to the Alluring Impressions website lately, go take a peek -- and when you start to fill up your cart, remember to use the code TJAUG10 to get 10% off of your order!a
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite Alluring Impressions stamp is, and make sure to leave your email address. My random number generator will pick a winner of Monday, September 13th at 9am. Good Luck!

Congratulations to Kathy Jo Connors, the winner of this giveaway!

Try that Technique: Fossil Stone

Today's Try that Technique is Fossil Stone from the April 2006 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. Try that Technique is a feature started by Beth Norman and Diana Enns; each week a technique from a past issue is spotlighted and we encourage you to try it.

Fossil Stone is such an easy technique! If you have the 2006 issues or the Purple CD4 (2006), I encourage you to Try that Technique this week!  Post your work on the TJ egroup or the TJ Design Team blog on Beth's post with a link HERE. You could win a week on the TJ home page!

A little about my card...first, the background is Fossil Stone, and it has been stamped with a definition background stamp from Innovative Stamp Creations. The gorgeous butterfly collage is from Alluring Impressions (make sure to enter TJAUG10 for 10% off at Alluring Impressions!), and was colored using the Ink Wash Technique (April 2007 Technique Junkie Newsletter). The card also has a bit of Wild Webbing, one of the 10 bonus techniques on the soon-to-be released CD8.  Now, I didn't originally intend on adding the webbing to this piece, but I was looking for an accent...and it was sitting on my desk...and it just kind of attached itself to my piece.  The colors were just too perfect together!

Don't forget to order your CD!

Oh - one more thing...after I finished making the card and photographed it, I realized that it is the exact same layout as yesterday's card. How could I not realize that until I was ready to post this?

August Sketch and Blog Hop!

Hi! Welcome to the final stop of the August 2010 Technique Junkie Newsletter Blog Hop. I hope you arrived here from Chris Dickinson's blog (and I hope her gorgeous Zig-Zag Accordion Card Inspired you!) , but if you didn't, take a minute or two to join us at the beginning of the Hop on the TJ Design Team Blog HERE. You won't want to miss all of the stunning artwork the designers have in store for you!

My card on the final leg of this stop uses the sketch from the August issue, of course. I used the Pencil and Ink Technique (also from the August Newsletter)  for the top panel. I also used the Soft and Sparkly Technique in the middle of the flower on the front of the panel, too! I love how soft, pretty and feminine this card turned out! The Background with the Pencil and Ink uses the Engraved Flower stamp from Alluring Impressions. I think it is one of the most versatile backgrounds I have in my stamp studio! All of the other stamps are from Stampin' Up!.

Okay, now are you ready to try the design? If you do, I will enter your name in a drawing for the following:
 This Package includes:
  • Two Rachelle Anne Miller Stamps, a collection of colored brads and matching Prima flowers courtesy of Beth Norman and Sunflowers and Dragonflies;
  • The Art Parts Stamp Set from Stamper's Anonymouse by Wendy Vecchio Courtesy of Croppinsville;
  • The Forest Life Stamp Set from Two Nancys Art Stamps; and
  • The Artsy Mini Book Shape Series - Circle  from Innovative Stamp Creations.
PLUS the winner will be featured from September 15th through October 1st on the Technique Junkie Newsletter Artwork-Only home Yahoo home page!
To enter, simply email your submission to me at phuntoon@optonline.net.  You do need to be a Techique Junkie to enter, and you need to use ONE technique on your submission to be eligible. Submit your entry by September 14th.

Thanks for playing -- I can't wait to see your interpretation of the sketch!

Alluring Gypsy Woman...

I was just playing around with these cool gypsy images from Alluring Impressions and thought I would share this creation. I used the Out of the Box Technique (October 2004 issue of the TJ Newsletter) for the wagon portion, and the Torn Frames Technique (October 2008 issue) for to highlight my creation with turquoise. Everything was colored with Copic Markers.

Hope you are having a creative day!
