Two Tag Easel - Day 23

This is Day 23 of the Technique Junkie Newsletter's month-long 10 year Birthday Celebration - thanks for joining us today!

Today I am showing you a Two Tag Easel from the Stampin' Companion CD. The CD contains 70 tutorials which use Stampin' Up! materials exclusively; as you can see from my Easel, the techniques are easily translated to other stamps, too. The stamps I used above are from Impression Obsession. Of course, if you are a Stampin' Up! purist, then this is definitely for you, too!

Today, I am offering the Stampin' Companion CD as the giveaway (or, if you are so inclined, you may choose a different CD, or an additional year on your subscription). To enter the giveaway, simply leave your name and email address on this blog post and my random number generator will select one winner on Wednesday, October 23.

Good luck!

Judi Markel is the lucky winner of this giveaway!

Birthday Bash, Day 9 -- Chanel, anyone?

Welcome to Day 9 of the Technique Junkie Newsletter Birthday Celebration. We are giving away something every day during the month of October!

Today, I am channeling Chanel! The stamps are from the Rubber Romance Line from I Brake for Stamps to make this Quilted Diamonds Card. Doesn't it look a little Chanel-esque? The Quilted Diamonds Technique is one of the tutorials from the Stampin' Companion CD. I added glitter to the image's dress and hat, too, just to add more elegance to the gorgeous image.

I am thrilled to announce today's giveaway! I Brake for Stamps is offering a $15.00 gift certificate -- one lucky winner will be able to get these -- or their choice of stamps -- from IB4S up to $15.00. Who doesn't love a mini-shopping spree?

To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment on this blog post. I will use the random number generator on Wednesday October 10th to select one lucky winner. Make leave your email address so that I can let you know if you win! Good luck!

Congrats to Lori Puccio -- the winner of the gift certificate!

Zig-Zagged Headless Horseman on an easel...

When I saw this ubercool image from I Brake for Stamps, I was enamored! I love the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman, and this image is a fun representation of it. I used a few techniques from the Technique Junkie Newsletter to create this easy easel card, too.

The first, of course, is the Easel Card. We have an Easel Card Tutorial on the 3D and Fun Folds CD.

Second, the background is the Zig-Zag Technique. This can be found on the Stampin' Companion CD. The background was straight lines when I started!

Finally, I colored the image with both Chalk Pastel Pencils and Colored Pencils. A tutorial for using Blending Chalk Pastel Pencils in the June 2011 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. When I was done, I swiped the piece with Antique Linen and Black Soot Distress Inks. Here's a close up of the coloring:

No Halloween card it worth it's salt without a spider, right? I had some fun with the buttons, too!
Don't forget that Technique Junkies get 10% off at I Brake for Stamps, too -- use Code TJ10 at checkout.  Have a great day!

Zagged Newsprint for Dad

I make a lot of cards every year, and every year my husband gets one of the cards I made for a newsletter issue or a CD. Although I am still making them by hand, I always feel guilty about them because I feel that I am not making them for him in a personal way. This year, I made him his "own" card!  It does use a technique, of course -- the background is the Zagged Newsprint technique from the Stampin' Companion CD. The CD is only 17.95 for 70 tutorials using all Stampin' Up! products in step-by-step, pictorial format in pdf format -- a bargain! You can see the complete list of tutorials and Order the CD HERE. Just select the Stampin' Companion CD from the pull-down menu of CDs.

I just received new stamps, inks and die cuts from Stampin' Up!, and I couldn't wait to play with them with his card. I was delighted to use one of the papers from the Fan Fair DSP pack to layer over my newsprint. Here is a list of what I used:
All Items, Stampin' Up! :
Stamps: World's Greatest, Family Reunion
Ink: White Craft, Not Quite navy, Crumb Cake
Paper: First Edition, Fan Fair DSP, Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy
Dies: Apothecary Accents Framelits, Bitty Banners Framelits
Other: Essentials Paper Piecing Pack, Basics Glimmer Brads

Hope you had a great Father's Day!

One thing leads to another...

Did you ever start out to create one thing, then end up with something completely different? That's what happened here. I was going to create a card using the Stencil Stamped Background Technique from the Stampin' Companion CD -- and I ended up with a completely different card! In between, I discovered something new and filmed a tutorial with my discovery. Go figure.

Today's card uses two techniques. First, the turtle was colored using the Marker Blending Technique from the Stampin' Companion CD (70 Tutorials exclusively using Stampin' Up! Products - only $17.95!). I layered Mr. Tortoise on a background using the Back-to-Back Tutorial from the August 2011 issue of the TJ Newsletter. I'll have to share the other card another time!

Ingredients:
Stamps: Nature's Nest, Wonderfully Worn, French Filigree, Woodgrain, Tiny Tags
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede, Basic Black
Cardstock: Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories: Blender, Stampin' Up! Markers, SU Twine, Tiny Tag Punch, Square Lattice Embossing Folder

Welcome to the Hop!

Today we are celebrating the Stampin' Companion CD Tutorials. We wanted to show you that the CD is for everyone -- you will find many inspiring techniques on the CD using ANY stamps and materials!

If this is your first stop, take a moment to start at the beginning at the Design Team Blog. Starting there, you will see Judy's gorgeous art, and continue on with Six other people until you are back here. If you arrived from Lisa's blog, you have arrived in the right place!

Today I chose to do the Swing Out Card, one of the 70 tutorials on the Stampin' Companion CD. I used stamps from Rogue Redhead Designs -- I think this is a great "girlfriend card"! As you can see from the photo below, the front panel swings out (um, hence the name...).  It is a cool 3D effect that allows it to sit on a table for display. This is also my card for Blogger's Challenge this week - Going 3D.

Although the Stampin' Companion CD was made with all Stampin' Up! products, I hope our blog has shown that the tutorials are perfectly paired with other companies, too. The CD is $17.95 ($19.95 for overseas) and has 70 pdf, step-by-step tutorials. How can you go wrong with that?

Since you spent some time with us today,  it's time for the reward! Simply leave comments on the blogs, and here, and on Tuesday morning (March 13) I will pick one lucky winner randomly who will have their choice of ANY two TJ CDs. You can choose the Stampin' Companion, 3D and Fun Folds, Stampbooking, Emboss or Die, Fancy Folds and Motion, OR ANY of the 9 annual CDs. It is your choice! (NOTE: The Specialty CDs in any combination can be ordered from the TJ Home Page.

Thanks for stopping by today -- hope you were inspired! Make sure to leave a comment here to enter the CD giveaway.

The three techniques I used were the Zagged Newsprint, Watercolor Pencils and Wisped Framelits Techniques. I love way my sweet little card turned out!

Hope your coffee is strong and your news is good -- have a great day!

Stampin' Companion Blog Hop!

Welcome to the last stop on the Technique Junkie Newsletter mini blog hop celebrating the release of the Stampin' Companion CD! I hope you have enjoyed the hop so far. If this is your first stop, I suggest starting at the Design Team blog (http://techniquejunkies.blogspot.com) so you don't miss anything.

My project today is an example of the Notes Corkboard Tutorial from the CD. I love this sweet little memo board! With the note cards attached right to the board and decorated push-pins, it is a great item to hang in the kitchen or office. And it takes just minutes to make, too.

The Stampin' Companion CD contains 70 tutorials that exclusively use Stampin' Up! products. The CD is only $17.95 to US/Canadian addresses, or $19.95 for overseas addresses. The first wave of CDs are being mailed today. If you haven't ordered yours yet, you can order it directly from my blog, or from the Stampin' Companion webpage.

Blended Marker Free Tutorial!

One of the easy tutorials on the CD is how to blend Stampin' Write Markers to get a watercolored, or a more subtle, look.  On the example below, I wanted to create shadows and contrast to a "white" image; using the markers by themselves would have resulted in hard lines -- not the soft blended look that I wanted to achieve. I used the Blended Marker Technique (FREE tutorial below the image) to create the look I wanted.

This is one of the 70 tutorials from the Stampin' Companion CD. The Techniques on the CD range from easy, like this one, to more complex. Every tutorial uses ONLY Stampin' Up! products, from the trimmers to the stamps and everything in-between. It is only $17.95 (US and Canada) ($19.95 for overseas addresses)  and all of the tutorials are in this format: http://www.techniquejunkies.com/blended-markers.pdf
(Note: If you cannot get the link to work, copy and paste it into your browser).

To order this awesome CD, go to the Stampin' Companion Page, order from my blog directly, or order from the Technique Junkie Newsletter home page. A list of the 70 tutorials is also on the Stampin' Companion page.

If you are a demo, this CD is wonderful for workshop ideas. If you are just a fan, like me, you will love knowing what to do with all of your wonderful Stampin' Up! products!
Happy Stamping...
