Salty Glimmers Giveaway

I love digi downloads -- and better than that, I love having them at my fingertips. The image on this card is from Twisted Papers. I am proud to be offering the Twisted Papers Victorian Scrap CD for one lucky winner as our giveaway this week.

The card above has a Salty Glimmers Background from the December 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. The main image was colored with colored pencils and pastel pencils, and highlighted with a gold pen. The background looks flat on the computer screen, but it is shimmery in person!

Here is the CD that is being given away:

Description:
This collection is from a Victorian Scrap Album of the 1880s. Every item in the album has been scanned at 300 dpi, saved at actual size and painstakingly restored.  The 126 Victorian scrap images on this CD are in two formats professional-quality, high resolution 300 dpi TIF files and lower resolution JPG files for viewing on your computer monitor. They are ready to use on both PC and Mac platforms.
To enter this giveaway for the Victorian Scrap CD and the card, please leave your name and email address in the comments on this post on my blog (do not email me your submission). I suggest leaving your email address as follows: p huntoon at optonline dot net.  You do not need to be a subscriber to enter this giveaway. My random number generator will be selecting a winner on Friday, January 28st at 9:00 am.
Good luck!

Congratulations to Brook G, the winner of this giveaway!

A dramatic get well

Okay, you have to admit it. The dramatic scene in the Twisted Papers digital image is pretty hysterical. I thought it was a great image to use for a Get Well Card -- especially if the recipient only has a cold.  I colored the black and white image with colored pencils, then layered that on a background made from the Texture Plate Smoosh Technique from the December 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!.

Happy Monday!

Giveaway: Twisted Papers CD

Hey! I haven't had a giveaway in a couple of weeks -- today's the day! Our sponsor this week is Twisted Papers. Today we are giving away the Victorian Nature Illustrations CD from Twisted Papers, along with the Puzzle Layer Card (Technique Junkie Newsletter, October 2010 issue), above. There are 280 images on this CD -- some in black & white (as was used here) and some in color. These images were painstakingly restored and every other one of them is just beautiful as this image. I love this CD and turn to it all the time for images! Being able to print them to any size, color them, use them as-is, etc. makes them extremely versatile. If you have never used a digital image, here is your permission to give it a try!

I also love that Twisted Papers includes thumbnail print-outs of the images with the CD. It comes in very handy! You will find lovely images for all four seasons on this CD. If you haven't looked lately, you might be interested in knowing that Twisted Papers has 33 CDs out, too.

To enter this giveaway for the Twisted Papers CD (and the card above), simply leave a message on this blog with your email address. I will pick a winner on FRIDAY, October 20th at 9 a.m. EST.  Good luck!

Congrats to Pam Tiedtke, the winner of the CD and Card!

Cheers to dad

I made this card for my Father-in-Law for Father's day. I was browsing through the Twisted Papers website and found this totally fun image -- how much fun is that? My FIL is not a card-lover -- he really just throws them aside -- so technically I made this for me and the other people who will be around when he opens it on Sunday. I DO think he will appreciate the image, though!

The Patchwork Background (June 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter) uses a Stampin' Up! Stamp in the background (and inside the card), and a Starving Artistamps stitching stamp. Inside the card is this:

and I couldn't resist adding just a bit of flocking on the foamy top of the beer glasses, both on the front of the card and inside. Oh -- don't forget that Technique Junkies receive 50% at Twisted Papers with the code TJ50 until July 31st, too!

Cheers to him -- even though he is not a card-lover, he is a GREAT father-in-law -- and I adore him!

Weekly Giveaway: Twisted Papers

Confession time: Never in a million years did I think that I would use digital images in my stamped artwork. Never say never -- because I do now, and I AM A BELIEVER! If you have not yet tried it, you should take a step forward and try it yourself -- you will be SOLD. I am here today to enable you to give it a try!

The card above uses Twisted Papers Images (our giveaway sponsor this week). I created the background using the Vintage Lace download. I printed it to full size, then used it for the Peeled Paper Technique (April 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter).  I love the way this turned out! The lady is from the Vintage French Postcard images -- again I just resized her and cut her out to layer over my Pigment Scrunch (purple) mat (from the February 2009 issue of the TJ Newsletter).  The stamped saying is from Inky Antics, and the luscious white paper is from the Paper Temptress.

Today's giveaway is the Advertising and Art Design CD from Twisted Papers  along with the card above for one lucky winner! This CD contains 250 full-sized images. You can print this images in any size -- they are so versatile! The images on this CD are fabulous -- you will have a blast with it.

Don't forget --YOU can pick your own CD for free from Twisted Papers. Simply place a $25.00 order and put the name of the CD you would like for FREE in the Special Request Box. Folks, that is 250 images for free! I think that is a huge windfall...

To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this post and let me know if you have ever used a digital image -- and if not, why not?!  (I am giving you permission today to use them in your artwork!!) Make sure to leave me enough information so that I can contact you, something like this: p huntoon at optonline dot net  for the email address phuntoon@optonline.net. (DO NOT email me your entry -- I will not count it for the giveaway). You do NOT need to be a Technique Junkie Newsletter Subscriber to win. I will use my handy random number generator to pick a winner for the CD and card on MONDAY, April 26, 2010 at 7:00 am EST. Good Luck!

Congratulations to Tina Finnegan, the winner of this CD and Card!

Scored Diamonds - Blogger's Challenge Sketch

Today's Blogger's Challenge was a sketch challenge. My card is loosely based on the sketch (on the right). I needed to drop one of the elements in the sketch to create balance for my card elements. I am really happy with the way this turned out!

I used the Scored Diamonds Technique from the April 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter to create the green background. I layered an image from Twisted Papers over it, and added a ribbon, along with some piercing details. The "Happy Easter" saying is from Stampin' Up!.

Take note: A new offer is posted from Twisted Papers, too -- a free CD with every $25.00 purchase! If you love the vintage images they carry, I suggest you go on over. (Details of the offer are on my site in their ad, or on my sidebar in the ad).

If you are a Technique Junkie, you many want to know that the link to the April 2010 issue is  LIVE -- you can access the 16 tutorials in the issue right now! If you are a junkie and you need a password, feel free to email me for it at phuntoon@optonline.net. I will get back to you ASAP with YOUR password.

Make sure you visit the other BC players this week -- their work is wonderful! Just click on the Blogger's Challenge icon on my sidebar. Have a great weekend!

Brayered Brilliance Valentine

This is the last Valentine for me this season...

I used the Brayered Brilliance Technique for the background (from the February 2010 Technique Junkie Newsletter). The flourish I used is from the Rustic Artsy Swirls Set from Innovative Stamp Creations.  This background is gorgeous and has a subtle shimmer that is not showing up, unfortunately.

The image is from Twisted Papers. I colored the black and white image lightly with colored pencils. I love having the ability to alter these images however I choose. (Make sure to check out their awesome discount on my sidebar, too!) The flowers are Decorated Pretties (October 2009 Technique Junkie Newsletter). I layered those two items over a purple piece that I stamped with a Stampin' Up! Stamp in white, then misted with a silver shimmer spray. It's a pretty piece all on its own!

I hope you are having a great Valentines Day!

Twisted Papers Giveaway -- Victorian Romance

Wow -- what a celebration I have for you today! Twisted Papers has offered one of their great CDS for our giveaway. If you have never been to the Twisted Papers website, you NEED to get there now! So many beautiful images to download...  And one lucky winner will receive the Victorian Scrap CD -- with 126 high resolution images!

Not only that, but Twisted Papers is offering a 30% discount  (yes, you read that right, 30%!) with the code TJ30.This is all to celebrate Twisted Paper's debut with Technique Junkies as a sponsoring advertiser!

The card above uses one of those images. Isn't that rose just beautiful? I was able to download the rose from the Twisted Paper's site, re-size it in exactly as I wanted it, and print it out. I used a little bit of the "Out of the Box" technique from the October 2004 TJ Newsletter, and layered that over a Pierced Patterns background from the current February 2010 Technique Junkie's issue. I think the pierced patterns looks very Victorian, don't you?(Stamps: Beautiful and Filigree Stamps from Stampin' Up!)  If you have never worked with downloadable images, now it is the time -- they are just beautiful.

In any case, there are some areas that you might want to visit when you go to the Twisted Papers website:

A great way to do this is to leave your email address in a spelled-out way, such as "p huntoon at optonline dot net." I will use my handy random number generator to pick the winning entry.
